Hockeyshot extreme triangle passer 2.0
HockeyShot Extreme Triangle Passer 2.0 Review
After building a hockey rink in my garage using the HockeyShot Revolution Synthetic Ice Tiles, I felt that I needed something to practice my passing and one-timers - this is where the HockeyShot Extreme Triangle Passer 2.0 comes into play. So, here are some things to keep in mind when upgrading your hockey practice space with the HockeyShot Extreme Triangle Passer 2.0 based on my usage. I will reveal using a 5-star review system how my experience was with the passing training tool at the end. You can also enter into the giveaway, see the video above for details.
What HockeyShot promises you is the following (sourced from the Extreme Triangle Passer 2.0 product page):
"The HockeyShot Extreme Triangle Passer helps maximize your on-ice training. This multi-sided passer allows up to 3 players to practice their passing techniques and even work on one-timers. It’s compact, yet durable design, is ideal for getting the most out of your training space and the retractable spikes make this the perfect tool for training on-ice."
With this in mind, please note that I did not practice with multiple people, but do believe that would be no issue. I was able to test the rest of the claims in the description of this hockey passing training tool.
Starting with the pros, you should keep in mind that these are from my experience, so, you may have slightly different results based on how often you play and the skill level you play at.
Pros:
Built to last. The passer is sturdy and has some weight to it. It is made of solid metal, with some durable rubber bands that act as the 'rebounder' or your personal hockey passing trainer. I took multiple passes of various speeds (some hard, some soft) and the results were the same -- which is that this is best suited for the ice, but can work with any dryland training with a bit of modifications (which we will discuss in the Cons).
Compact and Portable. The design of the hockey puck passing aid is compact and is easy to take with you wherever you want to go. The only thing you would want to keep in mind is to bring the hex key or an Allen Wrench to adjust the spikes (or pegs) to the environment.
Good Price. Some of the hockey puck-passing tools can break the bank, but this one is actually not as expensive, going for $139.99. I was also able to receive the personal hockey puck passer in just two days with the standard shipping from Purehockey.com!
For the negative portion of this review, there are really only 2 downsides to the HockeyShot Passer, where the first is a minor inconvenience and the second is a major one.
Cons:
The minor inconvenience is that the HockeyShot Passing Training Aid needs a little bit extra weight put on top of it to keep it steady when you are using the personal passer during dryland training. This is because the spikes (or pegs) are ideal for ice hockey. So, when I use it, I tend to put a 25lb dumbbell on top of it during dryland off-ice hockey pass training.
The Major inconvenience is that the pucks will slide under the rubber band at certain angles. I found that this may be because of two things: (1) the passing training aid is not meant to have extra weight on the back and may be causing the equipment to not act as it should, and (2) the pegs lift the bands up slightly during dryland hockey training, which does not happen when on ice, and this may be how the pucks are able to slip under. I found though that this primarily occurs when passing at about a 45-degree angle.
Overall 5-Star Rating for the Extreme Triangle Passer 2.0
I give this product a 5 out of 5 Star Rating. While there are a few Cons, those are not enough to take the HockeyShot Extreme Triangle Passer down at all. The product works very well for dryland, but even better for on-ice hockey passing drills. This passing training tool will allow any hockey player to practice both passing and receiving the puck. While there are more reliable passing tools out there, they come at a much steeper cost. HockeyShot has done it again with a great product that has become a staple in my garage synthetic hockey rink!
