NHL Tape Jobs
Tape Your Hockey Stick Blade Like Sidney Crosby
We are going to review how you can tape your hockey stick blade using the same style as 3-time Stanley Cup champion, Sidney Crosby.
Materials Needed
The first thing needed is the hockey stick. The hockey stick we use in the video is the Warrior Covert with the W01 curve. Sidney Crosby uses a pretty flat curve with a taller paddle, so this one should work for us.
The only other thing we need is some 1-inch black cloth tape. For this, I use the popular Howie’s hockey tape.
Also, an additional thing you may want is scissors if you struggle with ripping the tape.
Before you put this together, here are the key components of his tape job:
Start at the heel of the stick and tape towards the toe.
The tape overlaps quite a bit on the stick blade, so make sure you have plenty of tape.
He uses black tape. Some players use black tape because they say it helps hide the puck on their stick.
Steps to tape your hockey stick like Sidney Crosby
Start a little bit behind the heel on the backhand side. Place about one inch of tape and wrap it around and begin making our way to the toe.
Nothing complicated here. Only thing to keep in mind is that Sid keeps the tape tight, about one-fourth to one-third of the tape overlapping as you make your way to the toe.
Once you make it to where the toe begins to round off, go once more around. Here, you cut the tape leaving about an inch on the forehand side and angle that piece back towards the heel.
And that is it! Now that you have the Crosby tape job on your paddle, go score some goals and dish some passes!
