How to Tape Your Hockey Stick Like Tage Thompson
One of the NHL's Best Goal Scorers — 1" White Tape, Heel to Toe
Tage Thompson's tape job is clean and covers the entire blade from just before the heel all the way through the toe.
Materials Needed
- Hockey stick: CCM Jetspeed with P29/P92 curve
- Tape: 1-inch white hockey cloth tape (Howie's hockey tape)
- Scissors (for trimming toe)
Key Components of Tage Thompson's Tape Job
- White 1-inch tape, starting from the backhand side, heel to toe.
- Quarter-inch overlap throughout.
- Unroll excess tape at the toe to make covering the toe easier, then trim.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Starting on the backhand side just before the heel, place the tape about three-quarters up the backhand and begin wrapping toward the toe.
- Keep overlap to about one-quarter of the 1-inch tape width throughout.
- Near the toe, unroll a generous length of tape (more than you need) to make covering the toe cleanly easier. Finish the toe and press all edges down tight.
- Trim excess tape around the toe with scissors.
